Zoey

I thought it was only right that Zoey get her picture put on the blog. She is a proud puppy of our little guy. Every night she lays by the bathroom door while I bath Ryder - I think she is making sure I am doing everything right. She really isn't too interested in Ryder right now, she gives him a smooch every night when she comes home, but other than that she keeps her distance! What a cute dog!

Two week checkup...

Ryder had his 2 week checkup today. He has gained 1.6 lbs and grown 1 3/4" since he was born! He is doing very well according to the Pediatrician. Wow how time flies!

Ear Specialist

We met with the Ear Specialist on Monday, he told us that we will have to have an MRI done when Ryder is 5 years old and they will reconstruct his outer ear when he is 7 or 8 years old. They actually use a piece of one of his ribs to reconstruct the ear! Amazing... The total reconstruction will be a series of surgeries at Primary Childrens in Salt Lake, but they will only have to do the reconstruction once, they will not have to repeat it when he gets older - thank heavens! So for now we have to have his hearing checked periodically and monitor any ear infections very closely, what a relief!

Almost two weeks old...

Wow, how time flies. I can't believe Ryder is almost two weeks old. He changes every single day, so I take tons of pictures. He is doing really good. The audiologist told us yesterday that he does have hearing in his left ear, we're not sure exactly how much but he does have hearing (yahoo!!). Their tests also showed that he has an ear drum which is really good news. We go to the ear specialist on Monday to see what tests they will want to run to determine what his ear looks like on the inside. They are saying he will need an MRI and a few other tests to see exactly what is there and what they will need to do to correct his hearing. But all in all we are feeling really good about the news from the audiologist and hope to have even better news sometime next week from the ear specialist. We are having a blast being parents, though the lack of sleep has definitely been an adjustment. No one really talks about the sleep thing after the baby is born, they usually just laugh and joke about it, but let me say that it has been the hardest part by far. It has been even harder than the labor was!! Again, thanks for all the phone calls and visitors, it is nice to hear from everyone! Please check the blog every so often, I hope to be able to update it more and more!

IT'S A BOY!!!

Hi everyone, we finally welcomed our new addition to the family on Friday, August 7th at 8:01 am. He weighed 7 lbs, 19 1/4 inches long and perfect in every single way. We had a doctor's appointment on Thursday at 10:15 and they induced us at Noon the same day. We welcomed Ryder Wayne Wallace the next morning. He had a few setbacks at first, with low blood sugar and low oxygen, but by midnight on Friday he was off the oxygen and they took the IV out. He is doing really good now! We have been home for just over 48 hours and I can't imagine what we ever did without him. Well, that is all for today, I will do some more posts in the next few days. Bear with me, having a new little guy makes it hard to get posts done!! Love to all and thanks for all the phone calls and visitors. Take care, talk soon.

Oh those boys...

One final post for today! This is at Gary & Anita's summer dance. Anita snapped this priceless photo of Dad, Bill (my father-in-law) and Wade looking their finest all in the same shirt. This is what happens when Bill finds shirts on sale at CAL Ranch! Wade was telling everyone that they were with the band, I simply told people that we dress the guys alike so they are easier to keep track of!

Quite the Family

So everyone knows how much I love pictures. Well here are a few more of Whitney, oh so clean branding calves, Lauren partying it up at Pratt's summer dance and Tiffany and Cody Martin bustin' moves that have never been busted! Now you can see where the girls get their wild side!!

MaKayla Leiseth

Here is another cute cowgirl, MaKayla Leiseth at the 4H Fair. Her and her paint horse did a great job! And it was her 11th Birthday!

4H Fair

Last Friday and Saturday was Shantelle's horse 4H Fair. Wade and I watched her on Saturday and got some good pictures of the little cowgirl and the amazing Mike. They did awesome for the weekend and ended up getting blue ribbons in both halter and equitation. Shantelle and Mike are quite the pair. And I have to say thanks to Shantelle for filling in for me this summer everytime Wade moves or checks our cows in the hills. She has been a big help. Way to go Shantelle and Mike!!

Oh Baby...

So at our appointment last Thursday, the doctor was thinking we were going to have the baby either last Saturday or Sunday, so after freaking out, I made Wade take some "skinny" pregnant pictures. Too bad I don't have Photoshop at work to edit them up a bit! I am at that really glamourous part of pregnancy where your face looks like a serving platter, your arms are nice and flabby, and.....okay I will stop there and spare the gorry details. In other words we are officially one week from D-Day and ready to meet our baby anytime he/she is ready to come. Sooner than later we hope! We will see what the doctor says on Wednesday.
